National Lottery awards £7,000 to Wakefield’s Kidz Aware charity

Almost £900,000 was awarded to charities and organisations across Yorkshire and Humber last month by the National Lottery, including Wakefield's Kidz Aware.

Kidz Aware was awarded £7,000 to help vulnerable families and to provide support for young children with mental health issues or disabilities.

Gillian Archbold, Diversity Manager of the charity, said: “We would very much like to thank National Lottery players for the funding we received to help young people in the Wakefield area.

“The funding will help us to educate children, of all ages, around mental health and wellbeing.

"It is vital children can access this support at an early age, and we can continue to provide educational sessions and much needed services for disabled children, adults, and their families.”

A total of 99 projects across the region have been awarded a share of the funding which is distributed nationwide by The National Lottery Fund.

Abdou Sidibe, Head of Funding for Yorkshire & Humber at The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “It has been inspiring to see how communities in Yorkshire & Humber have been responding to the crisis.
