Pontefract pensioner Helen celebrates 100th birthday

Residents and staff at HC-One’s Priory Gardens Care Home came together to celebrate a milestone as much-loved resident Helen Shillito marked her 100th birthday.

Helen enjoyed a memorable day surrounded by her family, friends, former neighbours, fellow residents and staff.

She was especially delighted to receive a visit from her nephew, Christopher, who spent the day celebrating his aunt’s century of life.

The festivities included afternoon tea, complete with a slice of classic birthday cake.

Helen was most looking forward to one of her all-time favourites, a traditional fruit cake served with a slice of cheese, a treat she still enjoys.

Imogen Bailey, home manager at Priory Gardens, said: “It was a privilege to celebrate Helen’s 100th birthday today.

"She is a wonderful member of our community here at Priory Gardens, and we were all thrilled to make her day as special as possible.

"Seeing her surrounded by loved ones and enjoying every moment was truly heartwarming.”
