Royal Mail warns of delivery delays in Pontefract due to 'adverse weather' and 'staff sickness'
Pontefract households are among thousands in the country facing Royal Mail delivery delays this week.
The postal service is warning customers that deliveries will be late in more than 100 UK postcodes, blaming staff sickness and the weather.

Among these are numerous postcodes in Pontefract (WF7, WF8, WF9, WF11).
In total, there are 111 postcodes, including those in the district, that are expected to face further mail delays this week.
It comes as Royal Mail listed 38 delivery offices, as of Tuesday (February 17), that may be most affected by the slower service.
A spokesman for Royal Mail stated that is was “adverse weather, including storms Goretti, Ingrid and Chandra in January, alongside higher-than-usual sick absence” which has caused the disruption to certain routes.
In areas where delays are said to affect routes, Royal Mail have said that it would bring in extra support to “restore deliveries as quickly as possible”.
