Santander online banking down leaving thousands of customers unable to access accounts

Frustrated customers have been complaints on DownDetector after issues began at around 11am today.

One customer said: "Business banking down nearly all day on Friday before bank holiday!! #joke #payday."

Another said: "Currently been on hold for 52 mins!! I’m trying to pay wages before the Bank Holiday weekend!!"

Customers are also complaining that customer phone lines and online web chat help services are busy.

The bank has acknowledged the issues by posting on its social media platforms.

It said: "We are currently experiencing issues with customers logging into Online Banking.

"Our team are working hard to resolve this as soon as possible.

"If you do need to log in, please try again later."
