Wakefield shopping centre asks for gift donations for district's most vulnerable children this Christmas
After the success of last year’s Giving Christmas Tree donation appeal, the Ridings Shopping Centre is calling out for donations to give to Wakefield’s most vulnerable kids.
Last year the Riding Centre received a staggering 700 donations - far in excess of their original request for 150 gifts.

The Ridings Centre's marketing manager, Craig Higgins, said: “The donation appeal went so well last year that we’ve decided to do it again.
“The people of Wakefield have been very supportive with giving gifts that will be distributed to children across the district.
“We were literally inundated with gifts that we had to give some away to other charities in Leeds.”

Gifts received as part of the appeal, which is running until Christmas Eve, will be shared between Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, Groundworks, Normanton Food Bank, The Real Junk Food Project and Wakefield Street Kitchen.
Ryan Grint, Senior Fundraiser at Forget Me Not Children's Hospice, said: "We're hugely grateful to Ridings Shopping Centre for supporting us with their Christmas Appeal.
“It's been a particularly hard year for the children and families we support, due to the pandemic, so receiving gifts like this from the public will make a world of difference.
“Ridings Shopping Centre have been great supporters of our charity and we're looking forward to all we can do together in 2021."
