Wakefield to host Galactic Gathering for Star Wars fans
A sci-fi event is set to bring a galaxy far, far away a little closer to home as it arrives in Wakefield next month.
The event, The Galactic Gathering, organised by Rebel Trading Events, will take place at Wakefield Exchange (WX) on Sunday, May 3, from 10 am to 4 pm, and is aimed at fans of all ages, with a focus on the enduring appeal of Star Wars.
Visitors can expect a range of attractions throughout the day, including appearances from actors who have featured in Star Wars, with opportunities for photographs and autographs.
Organisers said there would be immersive displays, with film-style props and themed environments designed to recreate iconic scenes from the franchise.
Alongside the entertainment, there will be a selection of trader stalls offering collectibles, toys, and memorabilia.
Cosplay is encouraged, with fans invited to dress as their favourite characters, and interactive elements such as Jedi training will provide hands-on experiences for younger visitors and families.
Tickets, including VIP options, are available online, and traders are able to book space to take part in the event.
Organisers say the event is designed to appeal to both dedicated collectors and casual fans, with a mix of displays and activities aimed at different age groups.
As well as the main attractions, there will be opportunities to browse specialist merchandise and speak to traders with an interest in film and television memorabilia.
The Galactic Gathering is part of a busy schedule of events at WX Wakefield Exchange.
The night before, Saturday, May 2, the venue will host Soul Shed, an evening of music, poetry, and comedy.
Later in May, visitors can look forward to the KLH Craft and Gift Fair on Sunday, May 10 and Dino Week family activities from Saturday, May 23 to Sunday, May 31.
