Peter named Wakefield District's Market Trader of the Year 2016

Ossett stall holder Peter Squires has been named as Wakefield District's Market Trader of the Year 2016.

Mr Squires, who has run his stall for 18 years, sells bread, eggs, biscuits and other products was nominated by his customers and visited by a mystery shopper who was impressed by his stall layout, product knowledge and customer service.

He said: “I’m very proud to win. It’s great recognition for the market and I hope it will encourage more people to visit.”

He was presented with his certificate by Coun Denise Jeffery, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Skills.

Coun Jeffery said: “Markets play a very important part in the district’s economy. The traders are very passionate and knowledge about their products which makes our markets such friendly and welcoming places to shoppers.”
