A proposal to put up 89 new homes in Newton Hill, off Leeds Road in Wakefield, was due to be heard at a planning committee on Thursday morning.

But the meeting, which was due to be held virtually and streamed over Wakefield Council's YouTube channel, had to be abandoned before it started because of technical problems.

A decision on whether or not to approve the development, which has received objections from more than 150 people citing concerns about traffic and the loss of green space, had been expected today.

The matter will now be decided at a later date, along with controversial plans to build a new Co-op store in South Kirkby, which was also due to be heard at the committee.
