Like many of you, I can hardly take in the pace of change over the past few weeks.

I keep thinking back to January 31, and to my Big Brexit Bash, where hundreds came together, danced, sang, and enjoyed themselves in a huge show of community spirit and togetherness.

The world feels very different today, as we implement new social distancing practices and restrictions on movement.

We all now know the seriousness of the situation and share concerns for our families and our neighbours.

I know that the Government is doing all it can to fight this disease and to save lives.

It has taken unprecedentedly huge steps to help support individuals and businesses during this time, and is doing everything it can to help support the NHS- and we can too.

We must stay home, wherever possible, in order to relieve pressure on our NHS, and to save lives.

In the current climate, we must all find new ways to stay connected and get local news.

I try to share anything that would be of use to residents on my social media channels, and would encourage you to follow me on Twitter (@AndreaJenkyns) and Facebook (@AndreaJenkynsMO) to keep up to date.

Many will have anxieties about the weeks ahead, and we must not doubt that this situation is a serious one.

Remember, to stay at home wherever possible.

Wash your hands.

Stay away from others, especially the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

We must all act now, to slow the spread of this virus so that the NHS does not become overloaded.

This is the only way to fight avoidable deaths.

If we all follow the advice given, we can return to our normal lives much sooner.

I know this is what we all want so please, think of others, don’t go shopping unnecessarily, stay indoors where possible, and keep in touch through phone calls.

Many have asked how they can volunteer to help those in need, like the elderly and vulnerable who should be shielding themselves at home.

I am pleased that over 405,000 people have already signed up to become an NHS Voluntary Responder, and you can too if you are over 18 and healthy.

Go to: goodsamapp.org/NHS to find out what you could do and sign up!

I am praying for all of our communities, and working hard with the Government to pass on concerns and helping to fix problems during this difficult time. Stay safe. Stay Home. Save Lives.
