This is what Express readers had to say on the government's Covid marshalls plan

Researchers polled British adults and from their sample found that 50 percent believed the government’s plans to introduce Covid marshals was a largely positive move, according to data by reseach firm Perspectus Global.

In comparison, 24 percent thought it was ill conceived, while a further 25 percent admitted they were undecided on the matter.

But most Express readers were strongly against the plans.

Mark Norris said: "Covid marshalls? More like little Hitlers in my opinion."

Ginny Hammond said: "No don't agree with this. We don't need little Hitlers telling us what to do. I would be really annoyed anyway."

Jonathan Sykes said: "We are in Wick tonight and like most towns it's not difficult to see where the problem is. Gangs of kids in groups of 20 plus out of sight out of mind a generation of lousy parents."

Helen Kirsty Antcliff said: "They're at school together all day. Some 'bubbles' have 300-plus young people

"A week ago, older people were treating themselves to half priced meals in restaurants with little social distancing.

"Let's not blame children for this."

Trish Bateman said: "Not met anybody yet who thinks they are a good idea."

Rory Robinson said: "They're a waste of taxpayers' money, they literally have no powers but to tell tales to the authorities. How is that a good idea?"

John Haworth said: "Why waste trained police officers time in operating covid measures when they can send out a covid Marshall.

"Makes sense if you look at it that way. The issue is how many people are actually breaking the law and would it just be creating an industry in itself?

"Knowing the Tories they’d use a private company that would get payment by results and they’d be over zealous to meet targets and get bonuses (like some councils have done for parking and littering)."
