Wakefield Council to start hosting virtual meetings after two months of cancellations

The authority's most senior members will discuss business remotely with the help of technology at a Cabinet briefing on Tuesday, May 19.

Most of the council's routine business has been suspended during the coronavirus pandemic and a total of 19 public meetings have been cancelled since mid-March.

Wakefield has, to this point, resisted holding remote meetings as other councils have done.

But with lockdown continuing and social distancing set to become the new norm, councillors here will be meeting via their computer screens for the first time.
