Road closed and man left with serious injuries after South Kirkby crash

Police in South Kirkby are appealing for witnesses following a collision on Common Lane in the early hours of this morning.

The incident occurred around 3.50am this morning, when a black Audi A4 convertible was travelling along Common Lane and collided with a lamp post, causing it to overturn.

The driver and two passengers were rescued from the vehicle by the Fire Service.

The driver, a 40-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where his is being treated for serious injuries.

Two passengers, a 41-year-old man and 37-year-old man were also treated by paramedics and taken to Pinderfields Hospital.

The road remains closed this morning as investigators process the scene.

PC Frances Brown of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhoods Support Team East said; “I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident and may have seen the vehicle prior to the collision, or witnessed the collision itself to come forward. Enquiries are ongoing.”
