Robber stole pensioner’s purse - CCTV image released

The 76-year-old woman was walking by Barclays Bank in Bank Street when she was grabbed from behind by a man who pulled her purse from her hand and ran off through Iceland car park.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man who they would like to speak to in relation to the incident which happened at about 1.15pm on Friday, December 5.

Det Con Tom Peniston, of Wakefield CID, said: “The victim was understandably left badly shaken and upset by this incident.

“We are keen to identify and speak to the man in this CCTV image who was in the area around the time of this offence.”

He was in his 20s, around 5ft 11ins tall and slim.

He was wearing a grey jumper and green trousers.
