The Duke visited the company to present it with The Queen’s Award for International Trade.
Based on Thornes Lane Wharf, Double Two now exports to more than 40 countries worldwide and was selected as a winner of the award last year.
Chairman, Richard Donner and his son, Managing Director John Donner, visited Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen last summer and today were presented with a bowl and scroll from Prince Edward.
The Duke was given a tour of the site, including the concept design department, technical workshop and factory.
Richard Donner said: “We have received many awards over the years but The Queen’s Award is our most prestigious one and I thank all our staff for working hard to achieve this.”
John Donner added: “It is a great honour to receive this award and it is a very proud moment for the company to have reached a point where such a large amount of our trade is international.”
The family business was established in 1940 by Isaak Donner.
It now produces more than four and a half million garments each year and supplies independent retailers, the police and fire service and St John’s Ambulance service.
