SLIDESHOW: Rally good way to raise charity cash

Almost 100 scooters and motorbikes gathered at Castleford’s Xscape entertainment complex on Sunday to help raise cash for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Pontefract Scooter Club and Doncaster Harley Davidson group, the St Leger HOG, joined with Pontefract and Knottingley neighbourhood policing team (NPT) to organise the rally.

Bikers met at Xscape to collect cash for the charity before setting off on a 25-mile parade around the area, complete with police escort, arriving at the Railway Inn pub on Mill Dam Lane in Pontefract for a fun day.

Mick Flint, of the scooter club and one of the event’s organisers, said: “We had a really good ride from Xscape to the pub and had good weather for it too which always helps.

“We had a really good turn out again and had riders come from Scarborough and York. We’d just like to say a big thanks to everybody who turned up and most of all to Maggie and Matt Senior at the Railway Inn for holding the fun day.”

All the riders paid £3 to take part in the event, with more money raised from the fun day, which included live music, a bouncy castle, raffle and food along with all the bikes on display.

Pontefract Scooter Club meets at the Railway Inn every Thursday evening at 7pm for a ride across the area.
