They trundled in far and wide for Nostell Priory’s steam fair on the Bank Holiday weekend.

Vintage steam engines and tractors of yesteryear were the stars of the two-day show last Sunday and Monday.

Hundreds of people attended the event, which was organised by Outdoor Shows Ltd.

Jenny Layfield, general manager of Nostell Priory, said: “Sunday was far busier than expected. We were completely overwhelmed but it’s great to have the event back at Nostell Priory.

“Everyone seemed to really enjoy it.”

Other attractions at the steam fair, which dates back to the 1970s, were vintage cars, lorries, buses, classic motorcycles and military vehicles.

There was also a stunt display and a dog display team.

And youngsters were treated to old and modern funfair rides, quad bike rides, a puppet show, giant inflatables with slides and castles, face painting and bungee trampolines.

There were also dozens of trade stands and an indoor craft, gift and a fine food marquee at the event.
