Snow and sleet forecast this weekend in first winter chill

Snow could fall across the area this weekend as wet and wintry showers sweep across the UK, forecasters said.

The Met Office said there could be light snow and sleet on Sunday night and temperatures could fall to below freezing overnight.

Tonight will be clear and frosty with temperatures as low as -3C (27F).

Saturday will start fine and crisp but chill winds will bring in cloud over and possibly snow on high ground, forecasters said. Temperatures will reach a high of 11C (52F).

But forecasters said light snow could fall from around 6pm on Sunday night.
