St John Ambulance is set to open its ninth workplace first aid training venue in West Yorkshire, with the launch of its new training operation on Malvern Road, Knottingley.

The new training operation will launch next month at Malvern Road, Knottingley.

The first aid charity has increased its capacity to train more people to save lives by bringing its facilities to local businesses.

The venue is ideally placed and close to major road and rail networks.

Wakefield businesses will be able to access a suite of one, two and three-day first aid and heath and safety courses for the workplace from November.

These include core first aid at work, emergency first aid at work, fire marshall and automated external defibrillator training. The facilities will allow up to 24 people to be trained at each session.

St John Ambulance trained more than 5,800 people in West Yorkshire last year and this new location helps the charity extend its reach to local companies.

Regional training manager Andrew Moon said: ‘We are delighted to be launching our new workplace training facilities in Knottingley to meet demand for our courses in the area. We already operate training in our Ossett headquarters and this will complement that venue.

“This new venue allows us to bring first aid training to businesses in the town and within an easy travel distance, making it more accessible and we hope it will encourage more employers to help their staff learn the skills that can help them be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.

“Importantly, there are numerous examples of people who have been sent on workplace first aid courses only to find their skills have helped them to save the life of a family member, someone in their own community or act confidently in an emergency situation.”

St John Ambulance operates 30 training venues across the North East region, which includes Yorkshire and the Humber.
