The biker was taken to hospital by air ambulance but later died from his injuries.

The motorcycle was travelling behind another bike that failed to stop at the scene.

Police said they had received reports that two motorbikes were being ridden in an anti-social manner around South Elmsall and South Kirkby shortly before the collision.

And they believe these could be the motorcycles involved in the crash.

A 17-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident but has been released on police bail while further investigations take place.

Detective Sergeant Matt Tunney of the Major Collision Enquiry Team said; “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision and may have seen either of the two motorcycles or the car prior to the incident, or anyone who witnessed the collision itself to come forward.

“I would also ask anyone who may have any information about the incident to come forward to assist enquiries which are ongoing.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101, quoting incident 937 of June 26.
