Teenager knocked unconscious in assault in Castleford

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place on Savile Road at around 8.25pm on Sunday, March 16.

The victim was with a group of friends when a separate group of males approached them and started being verbally abusive.

Police said one of the group then punched the victim causing him to fall to the floor, before punching and kicking him on the ground.

He was left unconscious and was taken to hospital where he was treated for facial injuries and possible concussion.

The man who punched the victim is described as white, aged between 19 and 20-years-old, tall, of skinny build with hair styled in a comb over. He was wearing a chequered shirt which was open at the front, a black t-shirt and a hoody.

The other two males are also described as white. One had dark brown or black hair and was wearing a red jacket while the other was wearing a hoody and glasses.

PC Chris Eastwood, of the local response team, said: “This was a seemingly unprovoked attack by a group who are not known to the victim or his friends.

“I would urge anyone with information or who has heard rumours about who is responsible for this assault to contact the Castleford neighbourhood policing team on 101.

“Alternatively, you can give information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
