‘There are similarities between us’
Members of Pontefract Town Centre Partnership (PTCP) and Pontefract Groups Together are planning to visit Haribo’s liquorice museum near its factory in Uzes, France, later this year.
They hope it will help in the development of a museum dedicated to the sweet in Pontefract in the town’s former magistrates’ court.

“There are a lot of similarities between the towns – it has the liquorice link and a castle, so we’d like to explore the possibility of twinning to establish a closer link.”
Plans for the museum have already won the backing of the town’s confectionery manufacturers, along with local residents.
