Thomas Cook chief executives called to Bobby and Christi Shepherd inquests

Christi, seven, and her six-year-old brother Robert, died while on holiday in Corfu in October 2006 with their father Neil and his then partner – now wife – Ruth.

The youngsters had been on a half-term break at the Louis Corcyra Beach Hotel, which they had booked through the travel agent.

As they slept, odourless carbon monoxide from a faulty boiler seeped into their holiday chalet.

When Neil and Ruth woke from a coma in hospital, they were told the children had died.

The Wakefield Express launched the #TimeForTheTruth campaign calling for the family to be given legal aid, which was granted by Legal Aid minister Shailesh Vara earlier this month.

A pre-inquest review hearing heard today (Monday) that 32 witnesses will give evidence at a full inquest next year, including Manny Fontenla-Novoa, Thomas Cook’s CEO at the time of the incident and, current CEO Harriet Green.

The inquest, originally due to be held in January, has been listed to start on Monday, April 27, 2015 and is expected to last four weeks.
