Detectives release sketch of man killed on Wakefield train line

The fatal incident happened at around 7.50pm on Friday, June 12, between Horbury junction and Wakefield Westgate.

British Transport Police (BTP) attended the scene - near the Monkton Road Industrial Estate - with paramedics, but found the man was dead when they arrived.

The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a number of attempts to identify him have been undertaken but to no avail.

He is described as, white, aged approximately 25 to 35 years of age, approximately 5ft 8ins, and of a slim muscular build. He had brown eyes, short brown hair and a stubbly goatee beard with stubble tram lines along his jaw. He also had his left ear pierced and was missing a right upper tooth.

He was wearing a white T-shirt, white Adidas trainers with burgundy stripes and what appears to be three quarter length blue denim trousers,

He had a distinctive tattoo on his right forearm in gothic lettering possibly spelling ‘TER’.

Detective Inspector Mick Dawes, of British Transport Police, said: “We are really hopeful that someone may recognise the man from the image.

“It is really important that we establish the man’s identity to allow us to inform his family and this is why I am asking for the public’s help.

“The man had no identification on him and we have been working closely with West Yorkshire Police but so far no-one missing in the local area fits the man’s description.

“This man is someone’s son, and maybe a brother, father or friend. If you know someone matching his description we need to hear from you so we can identify him and inform his family as soon as possible. If you recognise him, please contact us.”
