Drivers face 12 mile queues and delays of over an hour after spillage on M62

Drivers are facing long delays on the M62 this afternoon after a spillage on the carriageway.

More than 12 miles of traffic has been reported, with delays of more than an hour, while teams work to clean up the spillage.

But three hours after the incident was first reported, queues are continuing to build.

Highways England said they were working to clean up a spillage on the M62 westbound between junctions 22 and 21 (Rochdale).

Two lanes remain closed while traffic patrols attempt to clear the incident. Sweeper and gritters have also been requested.

Traffic is already back to junction 24 (Elland), and is continuing to build towards Brighouse.
