Seven miles of traffic and delays of an hour after collision on A1M between Pontefract and Doncaster

The incident was first reported around 8.20am today (Friday, December 4), and a section of the A1M, close to the junction with the M18, has now been closed to drivers.

The collision took place on the southbound carriageway close to junction 35 (Doncaster), but traffic has already backed up to junction 38 (Hampole).

Traffic officers, paramedics and fire crews are on site dealing with the incident.

Highways England warned drivers to expect delays of up to an hour, and said they expected traffic to clear by 11am.
