Signal box failures causing train delays across Wakefield district this morning

A faulty signalling system is causing train delays across Wakefield district

The problem at Pontefract Monkhill was reported over two hours ago and Northern says the issue may not be fully resolved until midday.

Stations affected this morning include Glass Houghton, Pontefract Monkhill, Pontefract Tanshelf, Featherstone, Streethouse and Knottingley.

Bus replacement services are being utilised.

A spokesman has since said: "Network Rail staff are on site and have now powered up a generator to provide electricity supply to the affected signal boxes."

However, disruption is expected to for another few hours and people should check before travelling.
