The victim, who was out riding with another teenage boy, also suffered a serious shoulder injury. But police say his condition is “none life-threatening”.

Police have issued a witness appeal and have appealed directly to the motorcyclist to come forward himself.

The male motorcyclist also fell from his vehicle - believed to be a Yamaha Fazer or Suzuki Bandit - but then remounted and left the area without giving details, heading towards Fitzwilliam.

He was described as 25 to 30-years-old, of medium build, 5’10” tall wearing a dark leather jacket, separate motorcycling trousers and a black and white helmet.

PC Nick Untisz of SRANS, Team Two, said: “We are appealing for information to this incident and would like to speak with anyone who saw what took place.

“The motorcycle involved will have been damaged and is described as being black or dark blue with a top fairing and belly pan and is possibly a straight four cylinder of 600cc or above with a single silencer exhaust and straight handle bars. There is a possibility it was a Yamaha Fazer or Suzuki Bandit.

“I would encourage the rider of the machine involved or anyone who can identify it to contact myself at the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team (Team 2) on 101.”
