Three mile queues and four lanes closed after accident on M1 at Wakefield
Long delays have been reported on the M1 at Wakefield this afternoon, after a collision on the carriageway.
Highways England said they were dealing with an accident on the northbound carriageway between junction 42 (Lofthouse) and junction 43 (Leeds).
Traffic officers and police are on the scene, but have closed four lanes while they deal with the incident.
Three miles of traffic has been reported, with queues back past junction 41 (Carr Gate).
Drives are advised to avoid the area if possible, or allow extra time for their journeys.
