Work on busy Wakefield city centre road extended by two weeks
Work on a major Wakefield city centre road has been extended by two weeks.
Network Rail have been carrying out "major repairs" to the overhead railway bridge on Ings Road since April.
Motorists have faced diversions and delays while the work is carried out, with a lane closure in place.
The work had initially been expected to finish by Sunday, November 15, but has now been extended until Sunday, November 29.
Speakin at the start of the work, a spokesperson for Network Rail said: "Improvement work began on the railway bridge at Ings Road in Wakefield this month (April).
"Work is being carried out to strengthen the bridge and it is also being repainted.
"A section of Ings Road is closed to allow the work to take place safely. Network Rail has been working closely with Wakefield Council to minimise the impact this has on people in the area.
"The work is expected to be completed in November."
