Tributes paid to city historian and author

Glowing tributes have been paid to historian and writer Kate Taylor who died this week aged 81.

The prolific writer, who was born in 1933, penned and edited many books.

She was an active member of Wakefield Historical Society and the city’s civic society.

Kevin Trickett, president of Wakefield Civic Society, said today (Wednesday): “She was a friend and ally. Somebody you could turn to when you wanted information or advice with anything to do with Wakefield and its history.”

And Chantry Chapel’s twitter account tweeted: “Kate is a huge loss to the city of Wakefield and will be sorely missed by many people who knew her and her work.

“Our prayers go to our Chair Kate Taylor who passed away today. Kate worked tirelessly for the Chantry and other local historical bodies.”
