Tributes to Dragon tattooist Mark Jones

Mark Jones, 45, of Wrenthorpe, died on March 2. He worked as a tattoo artist for more than 16 years at his family’s business, Dragon Tattoo Studio, on the Springs in Wakefield.

He leaves behind children Danny and Emma, who both worked at the studio, fiancee Sarah and parents Sandra and Joe.

Danny said: “He wasn’t just my dad, he was my best friend. He was the kindest, funniest, most caring man. No one had a bad word to say about him. He was loved by loads and was a Wakefield legend. I’m so proud of him and lucky to call him my dad.”

Mr Jones’ dad Joe said: “Mark didn’t have a bad bone in his body. He was so kind and would do anything for anyone. I can’t believe he will never walk through the door again. He will be missed by so many people.”

Mr Jones’ funeral will be held at Wakefield Crematorium at 11am on Wednesday, March 18. Donations will be given to Macmillan Nurses.

Hundreds of people took to Facebook to pay their respects.

Dirk Clarke said: “Mark left his mark, not only on all the people that he tattooed, but also on the ones who got to know him, his work is treasured and admired by all the people that was privileged enough to have his brilliant artwork on their bodies.”

Louise Phillips said: “Top bloke! How fantastic that so many will carry a reminder of him.”

The studio will be closed until further notice.
