Two-car crash at traffic lights junction near pub

A woman was taken to hospital after two cars were involved in a smash before hitting railings and a wall today (Friday).

The two cars - a Vauxhall Mokka and Vauxhall Meriva - crashed close to the King William pub near traffic lights at the junction of Aketon Road and Leeds Barnsdale Road in Cutsyke, Castleford.

Police said one of the cars also crashed into a wall and the other collided with railings outside a shop during the incident at around 7.41am.

The woman who was driving the Vauxhall Mokka was taken to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield with minor injuries.

Police said the man who was driving the Vauxhall Mariva was not injured as a result of the crash.
