Two people arrested in connection with Pontefract armed robbery

Two people have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a jewellers in Pontefract last week.

Police said a group of four men - one with a firearm - entered the Kingston Jewellers on Ropergate at around 2.35pm on Thursday.

They threatened staff in the store before making off with a large quantity of jewellery in a burgundy coloured Rover 75 estate car, which was later found burnt out on Wakefield Road at the junction with Jubilee Way.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Det Insp Paul Harrison, from Wakefield CID, said: “We are still looking for a number of other people in relation to this particularly nasty robbery in Pontefract last week, and are appealing to any member of the public who may have any information to contact us.”
