A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water said: “We would like to apologise for the water pipe burst at Denby Dale Road that occurred this morning at 5.45am due to a mains failure. Our technical engineers are working hard to resolve the problem and normal water supply is now slowly returning to the 3,500 homes in the area that have been affected.

“We are also working closely with the Highways Agency to repair damage caused to the A636. We expect all water supplies to be back up and running very soon.”
