Wakefield to host brewers' battle

A beery War of the Roses will commence in Wakefield on Thursday.

The second East vs West Festival will see Yorkshire and Lancashire brewers go head to head at The Red Shed on Vicarage Street from 6pm on Thursday, May 12.

The four-day festival continues from noon to 11pm on Friday and Saturday.

It finishes on Sunday with a 1pm to 6pm session to tie in with the end of the Premier League.

There will be 19 hand-pulled beers to chose from, including unique Yorkshire collaborations and beers from Manchester rarely seen in these parts.

Tickets cost £5 and include a souvenir glass and a half-pint token.

It has been organised by Malcolm Bastow, of Five Towns Brewery in Outwood, in aid of Candlelighters and Newton Hill Cricket Club.
