Police were called at 12.25pm after a man was spotted leaving a suspicious package outside of the Bank shop.

Shoppers and staff were evacuated between Bank and Sainsbury’s while the package was investigated by a specialist search officer.

The cordon was lifted and the centre reopened after the package was found to contain food and clothes.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of making a bomb hoax.
