Heatwave in Wakefield: Highs of 28C expected this bank holiday weekend across Wakefield, Pontefract and Castleford
Wakefield will see temperatures soar this bank holiday weekend.
The district’s cool and unsettled weather will make way for increasingly warm conditions on Friday (May 22) – with the warmest day of the year so far on the way.

Friday will see highs of 25C, with temperatures continuing to rise to 27C across the bank holiday weekend.
Monday (May 25) is set to be the hottest day of the year so far, with the Met Office forecasting highs of 28C.
The Met Office’s outlook for Wakefield reads: “Much warmer during this period. Friday, warm or very warm with hazy sunshine. Saturday remaining warm with sunny spells. Perhaps more cloudy with rain later Sunday, but still warm.”
Into next week and the high pressure is expected to remain in place for much of the UK – meaning the fine weather is likely to continue.
Patchy rain may affect Wakefield at times, however, temperatures are expected to be above normal.
