Weather in Wakefield: Heavy rain expected across Wakefield, Pontefract and Castleford this week
The Met Office has shared that there will be a ‘fresher feel’ in Wakefield, with rain forecast for the week.
The district will finally see heavy rain following weeks of sunny, warm weather.
Last week, an amber extreme heat alert was issued by the Met Office, with temperatures reaching into the 30s.
The high temperatures caused an increased demand on health and social care services and was cited as the cause for numerous wildfires.

However, this week will see a welcome change to the weather with heavy rain and cooler tempertaures forecast.
Tomorrow (August 18) will see “a cloudy and damp start, with sunny spells and a scattering of showers".
Temperatures will reach highs of 23C, but it will likely remain cool across the district.
The outlook for Wednesday to Friday reads: “Sunny spells and showers expected throughout this period. Some of the showers will be heavy and times, with the risk of hail and thunder. A fresh feel for all.”
Over the coming weeks, temperatures are more likely to be above normal than below overall.
However, the Met Office has assured that the possibility of widespread or exceptional heat is lower than in recent weeks.
