Weather in Wakefield: Heavy rain to replace cold and wintry weather across Wakefield, Pontefract and Castleford
Following a cold week in Wakefield, temperatures are set to rise with heavy rain forecast throughout the week.
Low pressure has pushed mild air in from the Atlantic, bringing an end to the wintry weather.

Over the past week, the district saw below-freezing temperatures with numerous yellow weather warnings for snow and ice issued.
Now, the cold weather will be replaced by above-average temperatures and frequent showers.
Tomorrow (January 13), will be “cloudy with outbreaks of rain for much of the day, some of this perhaps locally heavy at times,” the Met Office has shared.
Chief Meteorologist, Matthew Lehnert, said: “We’ll see a transition in our weather across the UK, with mild Atlantic air moving in from the west.
"Temperatures will rise and we’ll see rain rather than snow accompanying some strong gusty winds in the north.”
The Met Office’s official outlook for Wednesday, January 14 to Friday, January 16 reads: “Generally unsettled through this period with outbreaks of rain or showers, but also a few brighter spells in-between. Breezy at times, with temperatures around average for the time of year.”
