Weather in Wakefield: Yellow ice warning issued by Met Office for Wakefield, Pontefract and Castleford
A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued by the Met Office for the district.
The warning is in place from 6pm tonight (February 16) until 10am tomorrow morning (February 17).

Temperatures will drop to lows of -2C tonight, with strong winds and frost expected into the early hours of Tuesday.
Whilst some patchy accumulations of snow will be possible, more especially on ground above 150 metre elevation, ice will be a greater hazard as temperatures fall fairly quickly once rain showers clear away.
The Met Office has warned of icy surfaces and icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
As the week continues, it will remain cold, with the rain set to return to the district.
The Met Office’s outlook for Wednesday, February 18, to Friday, February 20, reads: “Wednesday, breezy probably dry but cloudier. Similar Thursday but light winds and brighter later. Friday, blustery with band of rain and hill snow moving northeast turning showery later.”
