Gateway Funeral Services: Extras which make a big difference

In this event, families often choose to celebrate the life of their loved one in a different way, perhaps with a gathering of friends and relatives, a meal out, the simple lighting of a candle or some event which reflects the personality of the one they have lost.
Nevertheless, Gateway Funeral Services has become aware that, while many families are happy with this arrangement, there are others – who may have chosen an unattended cremation on affordability grounds – would still like to achieve a little more closure.
Consequently, Gateway now offers the option of a ‘celebration of life’ service, held in its chapel at Birkenshaw, in advance of the cremation, conducted by a funeral celebrant.
“This additional option is, we believe, unique,” said Gateway’s Lucy Hitchcock.
“Families are able to have as much or as little input a they choose: for example, some families like to say a few words themselves, offer other guests the opportunity to reflect and share their memories, to have photo displays at the service and make their music choices.
“Our current at-need unattended cremation service is charged at £999 and we can offer this additional service for an extra £600, making the total cost only £1,599.”
This add-on still means the cost of an unattended cremation plus celebration is substantially less than a service at the crematorium.
This new initiative typifies the way Gateway, as an independent family-owned company, is able to offer a wide range of options and closely tailor a service to customers’ wishes.
