Castleford CC to start YPLN title defence with two away games

Yorkshire Premier Cricket League North champions Castleford will open the defence of their crown with an away game when the new season opens in April.

Castleford, who will be captained by Scott Hopkinson this year, will start their season with a trip to play Carlton Towers.

A second away game follows the week after at Beverley Town before a first home game at Savile Park against Knaresborough on Saturday May 9.

May sees a further away game against Hull Zingari before back to back home matches against likely title rivals York (23rd), who were third last year, and Harrogate (25th).

Sheriff Hutton Bridge pushed Castleford all the way in the title race last year and they come to Castleford on June 13 with the return on July 18.

Cas finish their league campaign on September 12 away to Clifton Alliance.

In the cup competitions the club have been drawn away to Sheffield Collegiate in the ECB National Club Championship first round on April 26 and against Beverley Town and Clifton Alliance at home in the T20 Blast on May 17.

They have a bye in the first round of the K3 Cup and will meet the winners of Hallam against Driffield Town in an away second round tie on June 7.

The Heavy Woollen Cup sees Castleford at home to Woodhouse Grange in the opening round on May 10 while the White Rose Trophy sees them up against Cleethorpes or Richmondshire at home with the date to be set.

Castleford have won seven trophies in the last five seasons and have high hopes of adding to their haul after making several exciting signings for 2026, including West Indies international Hayden Walsh Jr and Yorkshire CCC junior Owen Smith.
