Castleford stretch lead at top of Yorkshire Premier Cricket League North

Despite the absence of skipper David Wainwright, Castleford were able to stretch their lead at the top of the Yorkshire Premier League North to seven points with a 16-run success against Dunnington.

A great effort in the field clinched victory over their fellow title challengers as Dunnington – who started the day just four points off the top – were dismissed for 155 in reply to a Castleford score of 171-7 that looked a little shy.

Andrew Bourke stepped up to captain the Cas side and his bowlers responded superbly with Connor Hyde taking 4-44, Matthew Rees 3-41, Edward Cole 2-39 and Eddie Morrison 1-24.

In Castleford’s innings it was never easy going, but battling knocks of 41 from Christopher Briggs, 35 by Connor Hyde, 28 from Liam Hyde and 26no from 21 deliveries at the end by Morrison ensured there was some sort of score to defend.
