Castleford CC bounced back from their first defeat the previous week as they regained top spot in the Yorkshire Premier League North with a 69-run win over Stamford Bridge.

After electing to bat first at Savile Park, they quickly established control with half-century stands for the first two wickets and went on to post a healthy 211-9 total from their 50 overs.

Chesney Hughes top-scored as he hit three sixes and four fours in a knock of 74 while valuable contributions also came from David Wainwright (32), Brayden Clark (27), Liam Hyde (23) and Eddie Morrison (20no).

Skipper Wainwright followed up by recording his best bowling figures of the season so far as he claimed 6-32 to put the skids under Stamford Bridge as they were all out for 142.

Opening bowler Matthew Rees also weighed in with 2-25 as Castleford went four points clear of Dunnington at the top.

Castleford seconds’ woes continued as they were left still looking for a first win in Y&DSCL Division Two Ebor following a 72-run defeat to Selby.

Although George Gibson took 4-33 and Martin Gibson 3-29 as Selby were bowled out for 204, Castleford could only muster 132 in reply, Luke Edwards (28) and Alex Dillon (27) top scoring.
