West Indies all-rounder Walsh stars as Castleford stay top of pile
Castleford CC’s West Indian international Hayden Walsh Jr produced an outstanding all-round display to keep the team top of the Yorkshire Premier League North.
Walsh top scored with the bat as he hit 71 in Castleford’s 219-9 then he claimed 6-32 with his spin bowling with Stamford Bridge all out for 153.
After being put in to bat first Castleford made a decent start through openers Luke Edwards (29) and Brayden Clark (26) then skipper Scott Hopkinson made 27 as they reached 88-2 and 125-3.
But with wickets then beginning to fall they needed the fine knock from Walsh to take them to their challenging total as he smashed four sixes and four fours in his 63-ball innings.

Stamford Bridge also made a good start to their reply in reaching 121-2 in 26 overs. But from their strong position they collapsed after Walsh came into the attack.
Their last eight wickets went down for 32 runs with Walsh taking six of them in a nine-over spell and Matt Rees (2-38) backing him up.
Castleford could not follow up their success a day later as they were knocked out of the K3 Dental Cup when losing a second round tie by four wickets to Driffield Town.
After choosing to bat first their 184 total did not prove enough as the batting efforts of Edwards (46), Joshua Wood (33), Ryan Pearson (21), Hopkinson (19) and Walsh (17) proved in vain.
Driffield paced their reply well to chase down the runs in 37.3 overs despite 3-34 from Ed Morrison and 2-37 by Rees.
