Mauritius holiday awaits Pontefract's 2016 best dressed lady

Pontefract racecourse have revealed the prize that will be awarded to the winner of the best dressed lady competition at this year's Ladies' Day meeting on Wednesday, August 3.

The winner will receive an all-inclusive week long holiday for two at the RIU Le Morne Hotel in Mauritius.

It is the second year that the competition will be sponsored by RIU Hotels and Resorts.

The 2015 winner Lyndsey Doran jets off to Mexico in a couple of weeks’ time.

Paul Bunce, head of market development for RIU Hotels and Resorts, said: “RIU Hotels and Resorts are delighted to support the Pontefract Ladies Day for the second year running and hope that the 2016 event is every bit as successful and enjoyable as it was last year for everyone who attended.”

Tickets for Ladies Day are now on sale and many of the raceday packages are likely to sell out well in advance of the day, according to Pontefract racecourse’s assistant manager Richard Hammill.

He added: “Plans are well underway for the new season and we’re hugely grateful to RIU for their continued support of Ladies Day - it promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

“Ladies Day is one of the biggest meetings in our calendar and with RIU’s generous sponsorship, we are now able to offer one of the best Ladies Day prizes at any racecourse throughout the country.”

Pontefract’s 2016 season gets underway in April with meetings on Tuesday, April 5, Monday, April 18, and Wednesday, April 27.

The racecourse have launched a ‘January Sale’ which gives racegoers the opportunity to book tickets for any of those meetings at half price.

The sale ends at midnight on Sunday, January 31.
