5. Reputation boost
Greg Worthington comes up against Darrell Goulding and Josh Charnley in the hugely competitive cup game. Featherstone Rovers coach Daryl Powell was pleased with the way his team had tested their illustrious opponents and said the club's reputation had been given a big boost from the match and its TV coverage.
6. Tigers boost
Castleford Tigers were without a game this week 10 years ago, but announced a boost with winger Kirk Dixon ready to go again for the next match after recovering from an injury. Coach Ian Millward said the week off had been good for the players to recharge their batteries mentally and physically.
7. Elite Academy opens its doors
The new Elite Rugby Academy opened its doors to our photographer and the Express ran a full page feature on the coaching class which had been set up by Castleford Tigers stars Ryan Hudson and Danny Orr.
8. Glasshoughton Welfare promoted
Andy Catton was one of the heroes as Glasshoughton Welfare came from two down to beat AFC Emley 3-2 to clinch promotion from the NCE Division One. After a thrilling finish to the season Welfare finished in second place.
