Trinity have lost all four of their competitive fixtures going into Friday's Betfred Super League game at Hull.

They were level at half-time in two of them and only six and two points adrift in the others, but fell away away badly after the break in their last three matches, losing the second-half 28-0 against Wigan Warriors, 18-0 to Catalans Dragons and 34-6 at St Helens a week ago.

They are up against unbeaten opposition again this evening and boss Chris Chester admitted: “We’ve matched teams in the first half, but when we face a bit of adversity or we concede, the mentality changes.

“The biggest lesson the players have learned is against the top sides you have to play for 80 minutes.

“Playing for 40 or 50 against the so-called lesser sides might get you a result, but against the top sides, they are never going to go away.”

But Chester insisted he and his players are looking forward to the next challenge and stressed: “All the talk this week has been based around what we’ve done well the last four weeks - which is starting games.”

He added: “There’s no point kicking stones, we’ve just got to get on with it and keep working hard.

“We genuinely feel there’s a performance around the corner and hopefully that’s this week.”

Captain Jacob Miller drops out after injuring a knee last week, but Max Jowitt could return from concussion, Kelepi Tanginoa is available after injury and Liam Kay, Jack Croft and Sam Eseh are also in contention.

Chester said: “We are down on troops at the minute, but sometimes that can galvanise a team and I am hoping it has that effect this weekend.”
