Lock Lane prove too good for neighbours as Lewis Price and Joe Burton double up

Lock Lane are the early pacesetters in Division Four of the Yorkshire Men’s League after making it two wins from two at the expense of neighbours Kippax & Swillington Miners.

Home side Lane ran in six tries and were strong in defence as they recorded a 32-8 victory.

Lewis Price and Joe Burton both crossed for two tries each with one from Lucas Moon and Thomas Egan while Mason Hare kicked four goals.

Elsewhere in Division Four there was an 18-10 home defeat for Brotherton Bulldogs against Dodworth Miners.

In the Premier Division, Cutsyke Raiders lost their second game as they were edged out 18-10 at Brighouse Rangers.

Upton have also made a disappointing start in Division Three and they went down 24-0 at Hunslet Parkside.

Featherstone Lions could not follow up their opening day success as they were beaten 32-10 on their own patch by Eastmoor Dragons.

Lions’ senior team, meanwhile, are gearing up for the start of the National Conference season this Saturday when they are away to West Bowling.

In the newly constructed league the Featherstone team will play in League F, alongside local rivals Lock Lane who host York Acorn in their first match.
