The 25-year-old has made just five appearances for Wakefield this season with his latest outing coming against St Helens at the end of June.

Caton-Brown's deal with Toronto will run until the end of the campaign as he looks to become a key part of the Wolfpack's push for a place in Super League.

He will meet up with his new teammates in Manchester next week and will likely be in contention to face Halifax next Sunday.

The London-born winger was an integral part of the Trinity side that finished fifth in Super League last year, scoring 21 tries in 22 games in all competitions.

The former Salford speedster admitted that he decided to make the move across the Atlantic as it "hasn't worked" for him at Wakefield this season.

"Thanks to everyone at Wakefield. I had some really good times but it hasn't worked out for me this year," he said.

"A big thanks to all the Wakey fans that have been supportive both on and off the field.

"I'm really excited to join Toronto Wolfpack, especially at this part of the season to try and help them gain promotion into Super League.

"I’m really looking forward to meeting all the players and staff and I can’t wait to get stuck into training and playing at Lamport Stadium, I’ve heard nothing but good things about the fans and the atmosphere over there.

“The 8s are going to be an awesome challenge. From the results the team have achieved throughout this year there’ll be a lot of confidence going into these huge games and to be involved in gaining promotion would be a special achievement."

Wakefield and Toronto were believed to have completed an agreement for Caton-Brown prior to last week's transfer deadline.
